Auntie Sally's home-from-home
Mummy's sister, Auntie Sally, is coming home from York this weekend.
I say 'home' somewhat provocatively as Auntie S has already gone on record stating that she no longer regards the town she lived in for many years, here in Bedfordshire, as her home.
The town that moulded her, that turned her into the person she is today. That's right, she's severed all spiritual links with it now and moved on.
Our haunted hotel; historic Moor; five charming pubs; large Tescos...they are clearly no match for York's rich Roman history, ancient Minster; historic walls; Betty's Tea Rooms; hundreds of pubs; Clifford's Tower, stunning river...no...they're clearly no match are they.
Our town has become nothing more than a distant relative to Auntie S, an annal in history, a home-from-home.
